Patagonia Atlantic: A Different Way In

Península Valdés is a natural sanctuary where wildlife, open landscapes and silence shape the experience. Marine fauna appears seasonally, while the territory invites a slower, more intentional way of traveling.

Further south, Bahía Bustamante remains one of Patagonia’s best-kept secrets: remote coastal settings, raw nature and an atmosphere defined by distance and scale.

Selected field experiences, including soft horseback rides through dunes and natural lookouts, add cultural depth through local narratives, rural history and Merino wool traditions.

I’m back from a magical trip to Brazil with Blumar. I’m itching to share my observations and renewed enthusiasm with Tour Operators.

From devouring kilos of fresh tropical fruit to cycling through Rio, every moment was fantastic. I wandered the Botanical Gardens of Rio. Stayed at three Amazon Lodges and was completely dazzled by jaguars in The Pantanal!

Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange in-person training, a webinar or just a chat. I can’t wait to share my observations, photos and renewed passion for Brazil.

Belmond Copacabana Palace

A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE CARIOCA LEGEND –  NOVEMBER 2026

Following its centenary in 2023, the legendary Copacabana Palace will enter a landmark chapter in November 2026 with the renovation and reinvention of its Pool Wing and pool area.

The Pool Wing is the hotel’s Art Deco building, originally launched in 1948, overlooking the iconic blue pool and expansive lounging terrace, the vibrant social heart of the hotel. A meticulous redesign will introduce interiors inspired by Brazil’s rich inland artistry, materials and artisanal techniques, infusing the Carioca legend with a renewed sense of place, cultural cachet, and Brazilian creativity. The transformed wing will become an all-suite experience, with every suite featuring a balcony, and most overlooking the famed pool and the illustrious Copacabana Beach. The revitalised Pool Wing will also debut one of the most incredible wellness destinations in Rio, with five floors dedicated entirely to wellbeing.

This new chapter will also see the reimagination of the pool area, introducing a new hotel bar – set to elevate the Copacabana poolside experience.  Guests will also enjoy a new boutique, and a reimagined contemporary Italian restaurant.

CALÍ, THE BRANCH OF HEAVEN

Cali is the third most important city in Colombia and a key point between the Western Andes and the Cauca River Valley. Its identity is shaped by salsa, a social phenomenon learned in neighbourhood dance schools and showcased every December in the Salsódromo, the opening event of the Feria de Cali. The city also stands out for its logistical importance thanks to its proximity to the port of Buenaventura, as well as for a cultural heritage influenced by the Pacific region. Historic neighbourhoods, local cuisine, and natural spaces complement an urban experience that continues to grow in relevance.

Community Update

This month, Golden Experiences & Travel strengthened its support for the Pilche community, located in the Amazon Rainforest, through actions that enhance daily well-being and long-term development. At Tupak Amaru School, children received new water containers, along with individual cups and a dispenser system that ensures safer, more hygienic hydration. These improvements form part of the Pilche Development Hub, an initiative designed to create lasting opportunities through access to clean water, training programs, and cultural preservation. Beyond immediate assistance, the Hub focuses on building resilient structures that uplift the community over time.

For GET, purposeful travel means investing in people as much as in the extraordinary places we explore.

Tropic Travel

Listening to Indigenous Voices

Tropic has spent decades collaborating with Indigenous nations. Our work with the Huaorani people taught us early on that true community-based tourism requires much more than access or creativity — it requires ethics, humility, and strict protection of cultural and territorial integrity. Tropic’s model has always placed community leadership at the centre with clear codes of conduct tied to anthropology, not marketing. We also practice absolute respect for legally protected territories, including Intangible Areas.

We value cultural continuity above commercial opportunity. These are the foundation of responsible engagement, sensitive cultural landscapes and the heart of our approach.

GUATEMALA

Maya Trails

Client Review

MAYA TRAILS created a perfect itinerary for our small group. In four short days we had an amazing adventure, from discovering the magical city of Antigua, to sportfishing on the pacific, and climbing an active volcano. Guatemala is truly a land of eternal spring, and Maya Trails really helped showcase that. We got to know our guide Josue who enhanced the trip by adding colourful detail and history to each place we visited. More than anything Maya trails really understood us as a group and was able to develop a trip that perfectly met our needs.

Thanks again, and I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them for future trips.
