LATA OFFERS SIX MONTHS FREE MEMBERSHIP

  • Current members to get free membership until August 2021
  • New members to get 18 months membership for the price if 12

25 September 2020: The Latin American Travel Association (LATA) has announced that it is going to provide six months free membership for all members given the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector.  New members would be entitled to 18 months for the price of 12 with the first six months free-of-charge.

Colin Stewart, Chairman of LATA, says:

““During the months of April and May, the number of passenger arrivals into Latin America and the Caribbean dropped by 95%. From June onwards, there has been some gradual upturn but the WTTC predicts that recovery to 2019 levels will not be achieved until 2025. These statistics put into context the challenges that lie ahead for the Latin American travel industry.

At LATA, we are in a strong position to support our members and have built up financial reserves which enable us to give free membership to all our members for six months. Usually the annual renewal period for LATA membership takes place in February, however for 2021 no membership fees will be charged until August.

During these challenging times, our role at LATA is to support our members and to work with them to help pave the road to recovery. We appreciate the challenges that members are faced with at present and we do not want to lose our valuable members due to the impact of this pandemic. “

This development was announced at the LATA AGM which took place on Thursday 24 September.

The LATA AGM also saw the re-election of committee members
Bibiana Garside (Geodyssey), Lyn Hughes (Wanderlust), Martin Johnson (Latin Routes), Nick French (The South American Specialist) and Quinn Meyer (Crees Foundation) and the election of new committee members Christopher Wilmot Sitwell (cazenove+loyd), Simon Heyes (Senderos), Lucia Zirolli (Furloug Incoming) and Malcolm Macfarlane (Aqua Expeditions).
