Pioneer Support John Blashford Snell OBE with Costa Rica Bridge Project

In 2025, Pioneer Expeditions supported the Osa Peninsula Expedition in Costa Rica alongside veteran British explorer Sir John Blashford-Snell and the Scientific Exploration Society. Revisiting the tradition of British-led fieldwork established by Raleigh International in the 1990s, the expedition combined exploration, conservation and research in the remote rainforest of the Osa Peninsula. As corporate organiser, Pioneer Expeditions provided regional expertise and logistical support for the building of a bridge with recycled plastic planks , while founder Philip Beale served as Expedition Administrator, coordinating operations on the ground. The project demonstrated Pioneer’s ability to deliver complex, sustainable expeditions in challenging environments. The expedition has been developed into a YouTube documentary film

Journey Brazil has supported this effort from day one. We take clients into the forest to meet the field team, walk the canopy corridors, and watch these flame-coloured creatures move through the trees above them.

PROMPERU

Inti Raymi: Celebrating the Sun in Peru

In Peru, the winter solstice in June is celebrated as Inti Raymi, the Andean New Year and one of the country’s most important ancestral festivals. Held every June 24 in Cusco, the former capital of the Inka Empire, the celebration honours the Sun god, Inti, through ceremonies, rituals, and reenactments at Qorikancha, the Main Square, and Saqsaywaman.

Beyond the festivities, travellers can experience sunrise meditations, spiritual ceremonies honouring Pachamama, and energy walks through the Sacred Valley. June is also one of the best times to visit this region, thanks to its dry weather and spectacular views.

Amazonas Explorer

Have you heard of T’aqrachullo?

As appearing on the front cover of the National Geographic Magazine this month?

We visited earlier this month and it’s AMAZING! Covering 17 hectares, so considerably bigger than Machu Picchu, it was originally a Kana site, then Qolla, then Wari, and finally controlled by the Incas. Some archaeologists are claiming it to be the mystical “Ancocagua”, a religious site as important as Quoricancha in Cusco or Pachacamac outside Lima.

At just over 4000m and pretty much in the middle of nowhere, getting there is not for the feint hearted.
