Chile: The Other Door to Antarctica
Most Antarctic expeditions depart from Ushuaia. Few travellers — or operators — know that Punta Arenas, Chile, offers an alternative gateway: quieter, less commercial, and geographically just as close to the ice.
Caliboro Boutique Voyages designs private programmes combining Torres del Paine with Antarctic departures through the Strait of Magellan — a single journey moving from granite towers to glacial continent, entirely within Chile. No border crossings. No divided itineraries.
For operators building true once-in-a-lifetime experiences, this is a story that other destinations cannot tell.
With 50 years of expertise across the full length of Chile, we make it seamless.

Towering granite peaks, ancient lenga forests, crystal-clear rivers and hanging glaciers create a landscape unlike any other, while travellers may encounter one of Chile’s rarest wildlife treasures: the endangered huemul.

MEDELLIN, A DESTINATION IN CONSTANT EVOLUTION
Medellín’s evolution goes beyond its urban transformation; it is also reflected in the way tourists experience the city. Although El Poblado is the most recognized and visited sector for international tourism, its growing popularity has made it a very crowded area. This is one of the reasons other alternatives are now offered, to allow visitors to enjoy the city from a more authentic and quieter perspective.
The Barrio Laurales is perfect for this and has become one of Medellin’s most attractive neighbourhoods. With its residential atmosphere, tree-lined streets, vibrant culinary and cultural scene, and a more relaxed pace of life, Laureles invites visitors to connect with the local essence.

New improvements at Kapawi Ecolodge
Kapawi Ecolodge, a pioneer in the use of solar energy in Ecuador, became 100% solar based with the construction of a new photovoltaic system. With this latest project, Kapawi Ecolodge fulfilled its goal of using exclusively clean solar energy for all its infrastructure and facilities, for both visitors and for the local staff at the ecolodge.
With this new solar system, Kapawi will avoid the use of approximately 1,000 gallons of fuel per year, reducing pollution and helping to protect the Amazon Rainforest and the Achuar indigenous land.
This is part of a broader process aimed at reducing the carbon footprint in the region. This is essential to protect key biodiversity and the natural landscape. We hope to gradually replicate this project in several Achuar villages of the region.

A new scientific study showing how experiences in the Amazon can change people’s perspective on insects
Insects play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, yet they are often misunderstood and overlooked in conservation efforts. Recent research conducted in the Peruvian Amazon explored whether immersive ecotourism experiences can change people’s perceptions of insects and other arthropods. Visitors to Tambopata completed surveys before and after exploring the rainforest, revealing that even short stays reduced feelings of fear and disgust while increasing appreciation for these essential creatures.
The findings suggest that direct contact with nature can strengthen emotional connections with biodiversity and encourage greater support for conservation.
As urbanization continues to distance people from wildlife, experiences in the Amazon may become an important tool for inspiring environmental stewardship.
