TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
1. The Latin American Travel Association (“LATA”) is a not for profit voluntary organisation, run by its members, whose objectives include:
- The promotion of travel to Latin America;
- The sharing of information on a non-competitive basis between members about products and destinations;
- To encourage increased standards across all aspects of travel in Latin America, particularly those which may affect the welfare and safety of clients;
- The provision of advice to suppliers in Latin America concerning the requirements of businesses in the UK and Ireland who operate tours and holidays to Latin America.
2. Pursuant to these objectives, members of LATA have worked together on a health and safety initiative, in order to try to monitor and improve standards of health and safety for customers who visit hotels or use transport or tour providers in Latin America as part of a holiday or tour. In furtherance of this initiative, LATA has appointed Sanderson Phillips and tranquilico.com, both of The Deva Suite, 36 Adder Hill, Great Boughton, Chester. CH3 5RA (the “consultants”) as safety consultants to participating members.
3. Participation will be conditional upon the member agreeing to the terms set out herein.
4. The consultants will obtain data, initially in the form of “self-audits”, and will, where appropriate, request further information from hotels and transport providers and grade the results.
5. The consultants will load the data onto an on-line access system which is to be made available to qualifying members on the LATA website. LATA will not be responsible for the collection, verification, accuracy or analysis of any such data.
6. In consideration for the services of the consultants, each participating member will pay as part of their normal membership fee an annual fee to LATA, and LATA will pay the annual fee of the consultants.
7. Neither LATA, nor any officer or member of LATA shall have any liability to any member, the customer of any member, or any third party arising as a result of their participation in and use of the scheme, the use of the website, any use of the data, any reliance thereon or any reproduction thereof. LATA has no control over the content or accuracy of the data and bears no responsibility for its use.
