Community-based wilderness camps continue to pop up in the Amazon and beyond. Some are private businesses going into Indigenous territories and trying to take advantage of locals – something that happens a lot around the world. Tropic is often asked by our partners if they should sell a certain product – it is important to us that we can answer those questions with confidence. In addition to our site stays and visits, we conducted a survey of community-based initiatives around Ecuador to examine their strengths and weaknesses. The results are in and they are interesting.
