LATA's Media & PR Services for Members

LATA works with the media to ensure it is recognised as the authoritative voice on the subject of Latin American tourism in the UK. The promotion of LATA in the media helps to raise the profile of Latin America as a destination and its members as key participants in the market.

LATA is regularly contacted by journalists for information. The team will alert members via email of specific requests. Please remember, journalists work to very tight deadlines and often require a same-day response.

Urgent requests will be sent out via the LATA WhatsApp PR group. Members can also share their own PR-friendly news on the WhatsApp group should they wish.

The LATA PR team monitors the Latin America news agenda and either pro-actively or reactively release statements on behalf of LATA’s members.

Top Tips

How to generate media exposure through LATA

The LATA PR team distributes quarterly media newsletters to UK-based trade and consumer travel writers to stimulate Latin American press coverage. We will send a reminder ahead of each newsletter being published but members can upload any relevant news as it arises to their business profile page for consideration. Any news that the LATA team considers relevant for UK media will also appear in the media news section of the website.

In order to stand out from the crowd and achieve cut-through, media news needs to be timely, newsworthy and relevant.

Not sure where to start? Here are some ideas for generating great story ideas:

Major tourism developments – e.g. new up-and-upcoming destinations; improvements in infrastructure; hotel openings and new touring routes

New flight launches (particularly from the UK to Latin America)

Booking trends. Is your area showing an increase in demand? If so, what is the reason?

Changes in visa regulations and happenings that may affect travel to the area

Major celebrations and/or anniversaries and sporting events that are relevant to a UK reader

New international films or series set in a Latin American location

Please note that the UK media need a price (ideally in GBP) outlining what is included/excluded and a URL. If you have images, please supply as high res and in an online link rather than attachments.

To increase your chances of inclusion, we recommend DMCs working with tour operator partners to provide a full package that consumers would book.

LATA Media Events

LATA hosts specific media events throughout the year to stimulate Latin America press coverage in the UK.

These include the LATA Media Awards, Meet the Media, informal networking drinks and press suppers. We welcome all LATA members to join these events and the team will be more than happy to introduce you to any media who are attending.

The events provide an informal networking environment for LATA members and key British media to meet and discuss story ideas and Latin American travel trends. We also invite media to join some other LATA events such as the Parliamentary Reception, LATA’s WTM Party and LATA Expo.
