LATA Workshop with The Long Run - 14 July 2026

The Story Travels: Communicating Impact Across the Value Chain

This workshop with The Long Run focused on impact storytelling for sustainable tourism.

We introduced the concept of a story arc framework. Rather than front-loading sustainability facts at the point of sale (which don’t sell), operators should scatter small, genuine “points of light” across the entire guest journey – dream, booking, pre-arrival, arrival, in-stay, departure, and post-trip – so that guests connect the dots themselves and feel like participants, not spectators.

We also covered the EU’s Empowering Consumers Directive (effective 27 September 2026), which requires claims to be specific, evidence-backed, and credible across the whole supply chain, with liability for anyone repeating unsubstantiated claims.

The session finished into interactive discussion, with attendees sharing real impact stories- reforestation, sanitary product donations, cultural preservation, guide training – and reflecting on where those stories succeed or stall along the supply chain.
