Panama is moving forward with resilience after a strong earthquake struck the country on the weekend of 10–11 October. Despite its intensity, the most important news is that no fatalities were reported.
The impact was concentrated in rural areas of the interior closest to the epicentre, where a number of homes were damaged. Relief efforts are being directed to these communities to support affected families and begin repairs.
Across the rest of the country, daily life continues as normal. Panama City and the main tourism destinations reported no significant damage, and hotels, attractions and tourism services are operating without disruption. Visitors currently in the country have continued their travels, and upcoming arrivals are proceeding as planned.
We are grateful for the many messages of support received from partners around the world.
With the high season approaching, Panama is ready to welcome travellers to its Canal, its cities, its nature and its two coasts, with the same warmth that has always defined the destination.
For any questions about upcoming trips, our team is happy to help.
