New luxury desert glamping in Peru

Peru’s reputation rests on the Andes and the Amazon, but its southern coast holds a different kind of encounter. Tropic Travel DMC has launched a new luxury desert glamping journey in Ica, moving travellers off Peru’s classic circuit and into the dunes of Huacachina. Over two days and one night, guests ride by UTV across the dunes at sunset, try their hand at sandboarding, then settle into camp reserved solely for their group, a pocket of stillness where dinner and starlight round the fire feel entirely their own.

From 2027, Tropic will build on this with a longer route south to Paracas, joining desert to coast over a four-day, three-night itinerary shaped by the DMC’s on-the-ground relationships along this stretch of coast. Guests gain privileged access to naturalist guides rooted in the Paracas National Reserve, and to local hosts whose lives are tied to the sea, among them a diver who still hand-harvests scallops, a craft learned.

There is more to discover in the detail. Tropic’s specialist team is glad to talk through the experience and answer any question along the way.
