Galápagos Travel Update | Tourism Operations Continue

Following the exceptional rainfall and flooding on 31 October, particularly affecting Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, Andean Travel Company and Oniric Safari Cruises would like to reassure travel partners that tourism operations across the Galápagos continue.

Baltra Airport resumed operations on the afternoon of 31 October, while San Cristóbal Airport remains operational. Cruises, hotels, guided tours and island-hopping programmes continue where conditions permit. Some roads and visitor sites remain temporarily restricted, with local authorities and tourism providers working to restore safe access.
Our local teams are closely monitoring developments and coordinating with service providers to ensure safe travel arrangements, making itinerary adjustments where necessary.
While El Niño conditions may bring further heavy rainfall in the coming months, this does not imply continuous disruption. The Galápagos remains a destination that travel partners can confidently promote. We will continue to keep our travel partners informed of any significant developments.
Our thoughts are with the local families affected by the flooding. With longstanding roots in Ecuador and the Galápagos, we care deeply about their wellbeing and remain committed to supporting recovery efforts and the sustainable future of these remarkable islands.
