LATA Sustainable Tourism Workshop
23 October, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 5:30 pm| Free
Following the launch of the principles of the LATA Sustainability Charter at ela2018, we are delighted to invite you to take part in a sustainable tourism workshop.
LATA is committed to providing its members with the tools and resources needed to progress the sustainable tourism agenda, and this workshop is the first step towards informing LATA about what you, the members, need from us, as well as giving you an insight to some of the ways that you can operate sustainably.
During the morning you will hear from:
Trudi Pearce, Committee Member LATA and Founder/Director RTC – Responsible Tourism Consulting
Jeremy Smith, Editor and Co-founder – Travindy; author of Transforming Travel (2018)
Davina Stanford, Course leader – RTM Leeds Beckett University
Katie Hill, Executive Director – BCorp
Dave Shanks, Founder – Water-to-Go
The afternoon will be led by Andy Donnelly of the Galapagos Conservation Trust and will be an interactive workshop based on the GCT’s plastic-pollution-free Galapagos programme. This will be an opportunity for all participants to consider the challenges in delivering the programme, where exisiting practise may need to be adapted, what challenges that poses to individual organisations, and where LATA and the GCT can provide centralised resources to overcome those challenges.
Even if your organisation doesn’t work in the Galapagos, the principles apply across the whole of the tourism industry, as do the challenges! By taking part in this event you can help LATA to help you and, ulimately, the whole Latin American tourism industry.
The event includes a networking lunch.
